Bio

Football has been a big part of my life since I was 9 years old. As a player, as a coach and as a parent, I feel there is no other sport in the world that teaches you life lessons like football does. I started my coaching career in 1994 at Horace Greeley High School (my alma mater) as a freshman assistant. There was no job too small, as I worked with the varsity as well. I became the Varsity Head Coach at Horace Greeley in 2012 as a result of the head coach stepping down. This was never a career goal for me but I did it for the sake of the program and the players. I wanted them to have a smooth transition with keeping their coaching staff intact. Now there was no bigger responsibility in my coaching career, as I was responsible for over 200 players at all levels. I took this responsibility seriously as life lessons were taught every day. My philosophy was always first man to the last man. I always took care of the non-starters to make them feel just as needed as the starters. I taught my players this philosophy as well and to watch it unfold in practice everyday, was very rewarding. I have been coaching in the Somers Youth Football program for over 10 years. I love the kids of this community and will do anything for them. I have helped all three teams that I’ve coached win a Championship at West Point, which is such a special experience. I have coached in that special game 7 times winning 5 of them and to watch the whole town come together on that day is priceless. When I coached, I rarely coached my own kid. I know the responsibility as a coach and I always was ready to give my vast knowledge of the game to all the players in this community, not just mine. My efforts were always in the best interest of the players to help make them better each day. I even spent time with other coaches in the youth, mentoring them on drills, techniques, practice plans, game time decisions, etc… Football is in my blood and I feel that continuing on the board is helpful to everyone involved in this great youth program. This program has grown in such a positive way every year since I have been here, especially with the efforts of the current commissioner. I wish to help continue our efforts and keep moving this program forward.
